Late Night Thoughts...

"You Better Start Acting Like It"

Saturdays starting to look a little different these days…

It's currently Saturday night at 8 PM, and I'm sitting at home, enveloped in an unexpected feeling of gratitude. Isn't that strange? Why am I trying to dismiss this feeling? Honestly, I'm not sure.

So, I called someone I haven't spoken to in seven years—my old hockey coach, Pat (not his real name, but he'd prefer I keep his identity confidential).

I confessed to Pat that life has never been so simultaneously fulfilling and challenging.

On one side, I'm living the dream of 21-year-old Aaron. Everything I've ever wanted has, more or less, come to fruition. Yet on the other side, I'm wholly unsatisfied in key areas of my life:

  • Business

  • Family

  • Wealth

  • Health

  • Community

I've achieved what I set out to do, yet I'm still not satisfied.

Pat shared something with me that has completely shifted my perspective.

He asked, "Aaron, remember what I told you when you were frustrated about not being on the first line?" To be honest, I didn't.

He said, "If that's what you want, you better start acting like it."

The moment he said it, it resonated deeply with me.

Too often, we sit still, frustrated by a lack of progress, or in my case, content yet knowing things could be much better.

The truth? I'm simply not living up to it.

If you want to be the best, you need to act like the best. This isn't just about attitude but also about routine, discipline, and what you consistently do day in and day out.

The smartest people take their work seriously and show it every day.

The famous saying, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care," isn't just to influence others;

it's a mantra to convince ourselves. Because although you can pretend and present any facade to the world, you can't fool yourself.

You always know when you're cutting corners, and the more you do it, the further you drift from your fullest potential.

In my journal, I often write about living up to my fullest potential and hoping to lie on my deathbed satisfied with my efforts in all life areas.

The only way to truly achieve that is to start acting like it. Because when you're not genuine, you're the only one who truly knows...

So, if you want it that bad... start acting like it.

  • If you want to double your business... start acting like it.

  • If you want to be in the best shape of your life... start acting like it.

You get the point.

Today, as I assess every area of my life, trying to pinpoint what's missing, the truth is: I'm doing just enough... but there's so much more potential within me.

So here's my public declaration: I'm going to start acting like it.

Reply if you are going to as well 🙂

Love you,
