Why comfort is killing your business

The truth about entrepreneurship nobody wants to hear... (especially new entrepreneurs)

Happy Thursday newsletter fam!

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me with my 10k/mo pull-up challenge. This has been one of the hardest things I've ever put myself through but I've been loving every second of it.

Why do I love forcing myself to do 400 pull-ups a day?

Even when it feels like my body is completely shutting down…

I LOVE it because I learned early on in my entrepreneurial career that suffering isn't the enemy, it's a companion on the journey.

Every entrepreneur and business founder will face moments of discomfort and struggle, but those moments are ESSENTIAL for growth.

And it's why even after I've already helped build multiple 8-figure brands I still put myself through hard things. That way when I'm in tough situations that really matter I'm used to the stress.

You see, most NEW entrepreneurs look at successful founders and think we're crazy for choosing discomfort... but they're missing the million-dollar lesson.

The truth is, when most people start their entrepreneurial journey, they're motivated by all the WRONG things.

They see the "entrepreneur lifestyle" on social media:

  • Fancy cars

  • Luxury vacations

  • "Flexible" schedules

  • Financial freedom

And they think that's the REALITY of entrepreneurship...

But here's what they don't show you:

  • The sleepless nights figuring out why your ads aren't converting

  • The gut-wrenching feeling when a big client cancels

  • The weight of making payroll when cash is tight

  • The loneliness of making decisions that nobody else understands

I remember when we were scaling Hush, there were nights I'd be up until 3 AM, my brain racing with all the problems we needed to solve that my hair was literally falling out from the stress onto my keyboard (ended up getting a hair transplant later on). My co-founder and I were burning through cash, and everyone thought we were crazy for trying to sell blankets in the middle of summer.

But we kept pushing.

Why?

Because I learned that resilience isn't built during the easy moments—it's forged when you face setbacks head-on and refuse to back down.

It's why I do these crazy challenges like 10,000 pull-ups in a month...

Every single morning when I wake up, my brain gives me new reasons why I can't finish today's set:

  • "Your arms are too sore"

  • "You've already proven yourself"

  • "Just take today off"

Sound familiar?

These are the EXACT same voices that tell entrepreneurs:

  • "The market is too saturated"

  • "You don't have enough experience"

  • "It's too hard to start from zero"

But here's the secret that successful entrepreneurs know...

The struggles you endure aren't just random suffering - they're intentional preparation for the moments that really matter.

When you constantly put yourself in uncomfortable situations by choice, you build the mental muscle to handle the challenges that come without warning.

So the next time you're facing a challenge that seems impossible, don't run from it.

Lean in.

Embrace it.

Because that discomfort you're feeling? It's not your enemy - it's your edge.

Keep pushing,

- Aaron
